Falcon Oil & Gas Completes Stimulation of Shenandoah Well

Falcon Oil & Gas's Shenandoah S2-2H ST1 well has completed its stimulation campaign, a critical step in the exploration of the Beetaloo Sub-basin. According to Philip O'Quigley, CEO of Falcon Oil & Gas: "We are extremely encouraged about the potential of the current stimulation program based on strong gas shows and other data observed whilst drilling both wells." This sentiment is echoed in the company's recent announcement, where it mentioned the successful completion of 35 stages across the 1,671-metre horizontal section of the Amungee Member B-shale using modern stimulation equipment provided by Liberty Energy.
The Beetaloo Sub-basin is recognised for its highly prospective gas reserves, with estimates suggesting it contains approximately 500 trillion cubic feet of gas, equivalent to more than 1,000 times Australia's current annual domestic consumption. The basin's potential is not only significant for domestic supply security but also for cleaner energy production and multibillion-dollar economic growth in the Northern Territory.
The stimulation campaign at Shenandoah S2-4H and S2-2H ST1 wells marks a crucial milestone in the Beetaloo Sub-basin's development, underscoring the potential for advanced manufacturing opportunities and reliable gas supply across Australia. Falcon Oil & Gas has successfully completed a major stimulation campaign at its Shenandoah S2-4H well in Australia's Beetaloo Sub-basin, marking a significant milestone in the company's exploration efforts.
The well, drilled to a measured depth of 6,452 meters, features a lateral section spanning 2,977 meters with promising gas shows and high-quality shale properties. The project's drilling phase confirmed no observable faults throughout the lateral section.
According to Joel Riddle, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tamboran Resources Corporation, "The increased horsepower of this equipment is expected to deliver a step change in stimulation efficiency and proppant intensity compared to previous wells completed in the Basin."
The team commenced the stimulation campaign early in 2025, with Liberty Energy bringing their stimulation equipment and sand to the location to target both the S2-2H ST1 and S2-4H wells, featuring horizontal sections of 1,654 and 2,977 meters respectively.
The campaign has already shown impressive results. In the S2-2H ST1 well, the team completed 35 stages across a 1,671-meter horizontal section in the Mid Velkerri B Shale, achieving wellhead injection rates above 100 barrels per minute and setting a new standard for the basin with an average proppant intensity of 2,706 pounds per foot.
Looking ahead, the IP30 flow test results from both wells are expected in the first quarter of 2025. Falcon is maintaining its 22.5% interest in the Beetaloo project, though the company plans to reduce its participation in the next four wells to manage 2025 capital expenditure more efficiently.
The project has been a joint effort between Falcon Oil & Gas Australia Ltd. and Tamboran (B2) Pty. Ltd., with both companies working together to maximize the potential of these promising wells.
With the stimulation campaign complete, the team is now moving forward with clean-out activities and preparing for extended production testing.
